Gatilox Eye Drops is a prescription antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections, including bacterial conjunctivitis. It helps relieve infection-related symptoms such as redness, irritation, soreness, itching, and discharge.

How It Works

Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It blocks essential bacterial enzymes needed for bacterial growth and reproduction, thereby eliminating the bacteria responsible for the infection. It does not treat viral or fungal eye infections. 

Directions for Use

• Use only in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
• Wash your hands before applying the drops.
• Tilt your head backwards and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
• Instil the prescribed number of drops without touching the dropper tip.
• Close your eye and gently press its inner corner for approximately one minute.
• Maintain a gap of 5–10 minutes when using another eye medicine.
• Complete the entire prescribed course, even if your symptoms improve.
• Do not wear contact lenses during an active eye infection unless your doctor permits it.

Possible Side Effects

Some people may experience:

• Temporary eye irritation, burning, or stinging
• Dry or watery eyes
• Eye redness or discomfort
• Eyelid swelling
• Temporary blurred vision
• Unusual or bitter taste

Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision becomes clear. Consult your doctor if any side effect persists or worsens.

Precautions

• Do not use if you are allergic to gatifloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics.
• Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye, fingers, or another surface.
• Do not share the eye drops with anyone.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or using other eye medicines.
• Seek prompt medical help if you develop severe eye pain, increasing redness, swelling, breathing difficulty, rash, or sudden changes in vision.

Storage

Store below 25°C or as directed on the packaging. Protect from direct light and keep out of the reach of children. Keep the bottle tightly closed and discard it according to the instructions on the label after opening.
