Product Overview

Permite Cream is a prescription topical medicine containing Permethrin 5% w/w. It is primarily used to treat scabies, a contagious skin infestation caused by mites. Permethrin acts on the mites and helps eliminate the infestation. It should be used only under medical supervision.

Composition

Each gram contains:

• Permethrin USP — 50 mg
• Formaldehyde Solution BP — 0.1% w/w (preservative)
• Cream base — q.s.

Uses

• Treatment of scabies
• Relief from scabies-associated itching, rash and skin irritation as the infestation clears

How It Works

Permethrin affects the nervous system of scabies mites, helping to kill the mites responsible for the infestation.

Directions for Use

Use exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

• Massage the cream thoroughly over the skin from the head to the soles of the feet.
• Pay particular attention to skin folds, between the fingers and toes, under the nails and other affected areas.
• One gram is approximately equal to the amount covering an area of 2 square inches.
• Leave the cream on for 8–14 hours, then wash it off thoroughly by showering or bathing.
• If the cream is washed off the hands during the treatment period, it may need to be reapplied as advised.
• One application is generally sufficient, but additional treatment should be given only if prescribed.

Pack Guidance for Children

• Below 2 months: Not recommended
• 2 months–1 year: Up to 4 g
• 1–5 years: Up to 7.5 g
• 5–12 years: Up to 15 g
• Infants: The scalp, temples and forehead should also be treated, while avoiding the eyes and mouth.

Possible Side Effects

Some users may experience:

• Mild burning, stinging or tingling
• Redness or irritation
• Itching
• Dry skin
• Temporary worsening of discomfort after application

Itching can sometimes continue for a while after successful treatment. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist, worsen or signs of an allergic reaction develop.

Precautions

• For external use only.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose and other mucous membranes.
• Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental eye contact occurs.
• Do not apply to broken or severely inflamed skin unless advised by a doctor.
• Tell your doctor about any known allergy to permethrin or other ingredients.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use.
• Keep the tube tightly closed after use.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
• Close household contacts may also require medical assessment to help prevent reinfestation.
